Last DVD(s) you purchased?

well i did a search and i couldnt find anything about this but if i accidentally skipped over the thread please shut this one down.

What was the last dvd(s) you purchased?

I went to Target today and found some great deals... One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 2 disc special edition for $10, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves 2 disc special edition for $10 (i really don't understand everyone's problem with that movie... it's a great movie), The Sting 2 disc special edition for $20, Ghostbusters 1 & 2 package for $10, Streetcar Named Desire 2 disc special edition for $20, and the original Sabrina movie with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn for $10.

I'm definitely going to really keep a close eye on deals at Target!

The New World directed by Terry Mallick.

I liked it in the theater, and was surprised at how powerful it still was on DVD. Everything worked for me in this film. And the topper was the cinematography, which was the best of the year, IMO. It was shot without lights for the bulk of the movie. No cables, no generators, no HMI's. It shows what is capable with a great DP, good planning and a decent 35 transfer.

BTW - I showed it to my girlfriend, and at the end she said it was slow and indulgent. All I could do was shrug my shoulders. Either you love it or hate it. As is the case with most of Mallick's films.

Cheers.

Picked up the Constantine 2 disc Special Edition. I love the look of that film, and there was a shot I needed to dissect for a video I'm working on now.

Picked up Napoleon Dynamite, Like the Best Special Edition Ever! Today.

Recently I've also purchased The New World, and the 2-disc version of Munich (finally found it!).

1. Munich
2. Pervert! The Movie (the trailer was too outrageous for me to not buy it)
3. Aeon Flux (Still undecided on the film, but I loved the look)

Welles is one of my fav's too.

I particularly want to get Mr.Arkadin and The Magnificent Ambersons, preferrably in Criterion collection (if they've one for the latter).

I guess I might have to order over the internet, which I'm loathe to do.

Thanks mate.

There is a 2-disc version of Munich, but it seems to be relatively limited in release. The people at my local Best Buy, Circuit City, and Borders didn't even know there was one available. I finally found a copy at Barnes and Noble. Disc two has about five behind the scenes documentaries with interviews with the cast and crew. It's a very similar layout to Spielberg's War of the Worlds 2 disc, Terminal 3 disc, or the Saving Private Ryan 2 disc. It seems to be his thing since he shys away from commentaries.

Good stuff. Worth the hunt and extra money.
