junior in college? What school? Lets get some backround info. getting no replys to my posts makes me sad. But what is that guy doing in the first and last shot? how is this helping you tell your story. Why are they writting? Are these the most intresting shots in your film if nto why did you post them. Looks cool.

No, junior in highschool. The whole thing is just an experiment with lighting and composition. The story is just there as filler, mostly. I'm also stuck filming this with a 1-chip 30p panasonic, unfortunetly. I just posted these grabs for general feedback, and to relieve some boredom for 10 seconds. ANYWAYS, quick rundown of the story.

Two guys at a table, writing. The things they're writing remain fairly ambiguous, and the tension mounts as one mans pencil breaks.

He looks up at the second man, who keeps writing.

He reaches for the second mans pencil, when there is a knock at the door.

The man with the broken pencil says 'open the door' to the second man.

The second man opens to door to reveal a boy, who blasts the room with light and screams. The whole image starts to rumble, until the second man is blasted back.

The door slams shut, screaming stops.

The first man with the broken pencil looks at his dead companion, then takes his intact pencil and keeps writing.

running time so far: 2 mintues

Not trying to bash anyone, but I think all but one of these grabs looks atrocious, and the other one doesn't look that spectacular, either. I think that if your short achieved what you wanted it to, then it is a success. The story may be a bit ironic/funny, but from an aesthetic point of view, these screens are just blown-out people with random bombardments of light.

I do, however, understand that this was shot using a 1-chip cam, and you were just messing around, so I am not trying to be too critical. If feedback is what you wanted, though, then I would try to find a better camera and try different lighting techniques.

We are all learning here (at least, I definitely don't know it all), so I think its great that you are experimenting.

Good luck!
