Exporting a finished project to import into Avid

I have to make a digibeta dub of a finished FCP project.

the only post houses near me are all Avid based. So I need to export a finished project from FCP so they can import it into their Avid system to make me a dub.

I tried exporting the project in 10bit QT uncompressed - but their avid system didn't like it.

What format would be best for export to make it easy for Avid to import?

Also - is there a way to format my portable firewire drive so I can use it with my mac AND so their Windows machine can see it?

Thanks a bunch.

What is your actual format? I wouldn't try to uprez anything if you don't need to.

Try: File - Export - Quicktime Movie... Current Settings... Self-Contained Movie.

Then, when it's finally saved... find the file that was created and control-click on it and Get Info. Make sure HIDE EXTENSION is NOT selected.

Then drag it onto the FW drive and you should be ok.

Good luck,

CaptM

I'll try that - thanks

but what about the issue of their windows system not seeing my mac formatted FW drive? Any suggestions?

Get Flip4Mac and give them the WMV9 files they want so badly.
Format the drive for 32-bit FAT on a PC, hook it up to your Mac and copy the files.

^^^Not sure bout this

Check me if i am wrong, but i do not believe avid accepts WMV as a import file. AVI or DV is an option though,

AVI is not an option with Avid. It should have taken a 10-bit uncompressed QT file.

Anyway, I agree with CaptainMench. Keep it QT and keep it in the format of the FCP project. Avid should be able to import Quicktimes.
