why not make boom mics green?

Okay, I've got it. There is a bleeding edge technology that the military is working on for cloaking machinery. The material has the ability to scan what is on one side and project that image on the surface of the otherside making it "invisible".

That is the way to go.

Are you sure that's a new military technology? Because I remember seeing it in a James Bond film.
 
That was like four Bonds ago!

Another problem one would have with a green mic is the ambient green it would cast onto faces. You would have some very unhappy DPs. I have seen DPs blow a gasket over dark blue sound blankets on the ground, but a nice bright green object eight inches over the talents head. Their light meters would implode.
