Matching backgrounds in car shots... HELP!

We're going to be shooting a fight in a moving car this month.

My concern is that the head on shots of the car will need to look like the vehicle is traveling at the same rate of speed as it is in the profile shots, which we all know LOOK much faster, because the motion is perpendicular to the camera, as opposed to the head on shot, which is parallel to the camera.

Once upon a time, I read a forumla which explained how to determine the rate of speed the car must be traveling for each of these shots, but, I lost it many years ago and haven't been able to track it down.

The latest (9th) edition of the AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER MANUAL (page 255) says that the difference in speed is roughly 30% to 40%, but I'm not quite certain about this.

Does anybody out there have a proven formula to match travelling car backgrounds that they would be willing to share?

Thanks!
