Under $700 Tripod for HVX200 (is Cartoni Action Pro good?)

I'm wondering what a good tripod would be for the HVX200. The Cartoni Focus seems perfect but a basic package seems to start at 1100 and that's too much for me. The Action Pro looks good but I'm not sure if it can support a camera like the HVX200. For the record, I don't plan to ever use a M2 adapter, just possibly a cineporter or firestore.

I've heard the Bogen 516 is good but I really dislike the architexture of Bogen cameras. I like how light they are but they never feel solid to me.

Will the Cartoni Action Pro work or do I need something heavier? Is there much for under $700?

Cartoni Focus is really worth the money. You might want to just save a little longer and get it. I bought mine over at EVS and I was thinking of staying with Bogen until I saw what condition their rental 516 head was in. The knobs were falling off and it looked like a pain to get them back on and to work right. Plus you may not need that extra support right now. But its better to plan for the future of what you might be using the tripod for.

I have a Cartoni Gamma and love it. It is worth every penny. One of my clients bought an Action Pro a few years ago. It is crap. Run away!. If you can't wait to save up for the Focus, I'd try the Bogen 503. It is not a Cartoni, but it should do for a while.

Ebay is a good source. Back before ebay, I picked up a $3000 Cartoni Beta with carbon fiber legs on DigiBid for $80. What a steal that was. Prolly never happen again.

Thanks, but I just can't trust Bogen. Maybe it's because the Bogen's at my college were so bad but it just feels flimsly.

That's why I went with the Focus instead of the Bogen. Don't get me wrong I like my 503 head, just not with the HVX. The Focus seems built a little tougher.
