Best Songs In Films

"Rushmore" used music flawlessly.

Songs which have been used to GREAT effect, but have otherwise overused in movies, include "Into the Mystic" and "Hallelujah."

Yeah, Van Morrison is popping up all over the place.

Kind of like saying "and that one BAD movie with Ashley Judd . . . "

Or that one movie where Ben Affleck can't act...

Bohemian Rhapsody in Wayne's World, great use of a licensed song in a film.

Holding Out for a Hero in Footloose's tracktor/chicken scene.

Blaze of Glory (Bon Jovi) in Young Guns 2 (more brokeback than Holding out for a Hero)

Whatever that song is from Brokeback Mountain...

GnR's U Could Be Mine from T2 (because it is a kick ass song)

OK, I'm done for now...

They played YMCA in Brokeback Mountain ?

I preferred BAD TO THE BONE in Carpenter's Christine

-

How about THE OUTSIDERS 'GLORIA' ? in the opening sequence ?

"It's hard out here for a pimp" Hustle and Flow...

BWWAAHAA
YOU KNOW WHEN I SAW THIS ON THE A.W SHOW I ABOUT DIED...NO WAY!..............THEN I SAW THE MOVIE! DAMN! I ACTUALLY LIKED THE SONG BECAUSE OF THE MOVIE! THAT WAS A GOOD MOVIE. THE ACTING WAS REAL.......

i actually DO think the song went well with the movie also...i just had to throw it into this thread (with my tongue in cheek) because of a heated discussion on here following the Academy Awards after that award...i think Silverwolf, Blaine, and maybe Yankee were in on it...

Normally if it's a film discussion thread the above and Hudson and a few others are the usual suspects. Ever notice that we even argue while agreeing with one another?

Now back on topic, and I'm ready to get flamed, but you can kiss my ass if you don't agree...

Pretty Woman in Pretty Woman...

Bring the heat, I can take it!

-Jeremy

You deserve to be beat down for that one !

OMG ! (Ralllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppppppphhhhhhhhhhhh !)

No way!

I knew I'd take heat, but seriously, good use of a song in a film (Snakes on a Plane logic says that it should be called Whore goes High Class).

How's this for some redemtion...

The End in the beignning of Apocolype Now. The way the song explodes right as Sheen loses his mind in the hotel room. Perfect song for the perfect openning scene.

(I know I'm still not getting redemtion, plus I tried to defend it)

Son of a *****!!!!! I am a HUGE Tom Waits fan. I've got a dozen of his CDs. I also have
Coppola's One From the Heart DVD for which Waits did the music. He sang with Crystal Gayle on it. If you haven't seen it, check it out. Stars Frederic Forrest and Teri Garr.

i'll check it out Blaine, i still got his albums!? now i got to get a record player. in the mid to late 70s i was a big Dr.John, Leon Russell, Randy Newman, Waites fan, i was a big drinker then, still in my teens, the ruff years.

They were all good. I saw Dr. John a few years back in Reno. He's still great, "How Come My Dog Don't Bark When You Come Around?"

i just saw a special and they had Buck Henry talking about the music in the graduate and how they changed the ending and such. why they stayed out of the pollitical stuff really interesting.

Moulin Rouge's Roxanne and the whole Ian Mcgregor and Nicole courtship medley

What a Wonderfull World, in Farenheit 9/11

2046 and In the Mood For Love soundtracks- simply brilliant.

The Godfather III opera scene. Great use of music and suspense.

Somewhere Out There - An American Tale (!? :) )
