Hey all!

What is the best tape to use in the DVX100A?

We currently use the Panasonic DVM63 tapes, and just wondered what you all think of other stock.

thanks!:love4:

I have the same question. I've preciously used AY-DVM63MQ and PQ. I see there are more expensive master quality tapes available. Can anyone offer some advice?

I'm about to begin a documentary project and need to buy a larger amount of stock.

Thanks!

The panasonics you are using are great.

Sony DVM-63HD 63 Minutes Mini DV HD Video Cassette were made for HD in mind but can be used with the DVX, excellent tapes also...

well if you aren't getting any dropped frames, then you probably dont need to change right? Everything is recorded digitally and so the quality of the tape wont effect the picture. or am I wrong? I'm just thinking with the little digital knowledge I know so this is just an opinion. better tapes mean less dropped frames and longer lastiung tapes? I still don't really get what makes some tapes better then others besides the whole wet vs dry deal and what not.

Stay away from cheaper brands like Maxell, Fuji etc....I have found out hundreds of tapes later that Sony & Panasonic are the best.

Rule of thumb is to stick to the same brand of tape. The Panasonic MQ's are gold.

yea im rollin with MQ's but a few times random tapes have been given to me to use since I had none left..:\ I need to clean my heads. I heard those sony's aren't that good for the dvx.
