Sounds like a good grab! This reminds me of one time when I was working at a car lot and this younger guy came in to trade in his Tacoma and he was from Washington. His truck didn't have AC, and we're in Florida, so when they gave him the trade in value the kid freaked out. He thought we were ripping him off, but what is anyone going to do with a truck without AC in FL. You'd be peeling yourself off the seat for 8 months out of the year.

No point in that except it seems like you guys don't need AC up there.

i just went and talked to the mechanic...compression's good - nothing major wrong with the truck...good rig

now i'm just waiting for the guy to go home and grab his title and i'm gonna hand him a paper bag with 10k in it....woo new truck!!

I used to have a pickup that the air went out on here in Florida. I used to have to take those soft ice packs for sports injuries to work with me, put 'em in the freezer and drive home with them on my shoulders to not burn up in rush hour traffic. good times....erm, I mean, that really sucked.

You are going to drop 10,000 Dollars on a 6 year old truck with 80,000 miles ?

"You cannot be serious!"

That's only 13,300 miles a year, under the 15k nat'l average. Plus, them little Toyotas will run for 300k if they're taken care of.

Still, I would haggle a bit with the price.

its 1000 below bluebook, and they sell (up here) for 12-14k all day...anyway the truck was about 25k new...

here's some perspective - i have a 93 toyota pickup 4cyl, 200k miles with a head rebuilt at 140...i'll put it for sale at $5000 and it will be at least $1500 cheaper than anything comprable...

Toyota and Nissan make the best trucks out there.

Man, if I could afford it, I'd LOOOVE to get a Nissan Frontier with a Crew Cab. Those trucks are PERFECT for small to medium sized productions. They're the official truck for National Geographic. They have enough room to keep the really expensive stuff locked in the cab and just enough space in the bed to hold dollies and cranes.

Three years ago, after a wreck, I was forced to drive a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder for a few weeks as a back up car. I was not a happy camper. But after a couple days, I didn't want to get rid of it. In fact, I liked it so much I kept it and bought another one for $1,000.00 to use as a commercial vehicle. I now have over 235,000 miles on that first Nissan and I have NEVER had to perform any major repairs. I just change the oil and the timing belt and everything keeps working. I learned through some buddies that the late 80's Pathfinder engine is an inline V-6 and is considered one of the finest engines ever built. I believe Nissan just recently returned to manufacturing inline engines for their current trucks.

What's even more amazing though, is that I actually had an idiot crew member accidentally drive my second Pathfinder THROUGH a brick wall at over 40 MPH. I was sure it would be totaled. Nope. The dang thing still runs flawlessly. He popped two tires, smashed the hood, and crushed the fender... but I'll be damned if that engine isn't working PERFECTLY still.

Can't go wrong with Nissan in my mind. I just hope this gas ordeal ain't permanent.
