Final Fantasy: Advent Children (Not the old one)

I can agree with most of the above. The Asian stuff seems to be more magical. Maybe just a little more thought went into every shot. Maybe they don't try so hard to recreate reality, but instead make a new one. Damn it, now I have to think about this.

Personally, I don't really like to deal with reality so much as realistic properties in a fantasy setting.

I hear people talk about real life enough... in real life. I'd rather have that in an outstanding setting as opposed to the real-world type.

Not to say that there aren't good ones, because there are. That's just what I'd rather produce, personally.

So, I think that if that's the aim, not to really try to recreate real life as opposed to creating something a bit more fantasy based, that's why I like the work I see overseas more.

man was this a pretty movie. I thought the voice acting was pretty good even tho the lip syncing was obviously off. the fight scenes were incredible.

Some people don't realize how hard it is to accomplish something like this. 3d animation is prolly one of the hardest things I've ever gotten myself into. I can't even wrap my mind around the hard work that had to have gone into this.

Yeah. I really am, actually. I'm currently working on another short, but I think that's the next project.

Why, interested in helping? =DDD

Yeah, seriously.

The production quality is far beyond anything I've seen in CGI land before. The Square-Enix team really kicks ass in this department. It's all freaking gorgeous.

Now if they could come up with something that will appeal to the masses as far as story is concerned, they'd be set.

yea kholi, lol I guess you didn't see my earlier post :P. I said that im around your area often like fountain valley and costa mesa so I would be down to help for sure.
I also have a bit of green screen experience but still need to work on a few things. like I mentioned before, I would suggest to use a blue screen instead of a green with link's green outfit.

I have a dvx but it got killed at a bboy event I was filming. It should be able to get repaired....hopefully. I'm making a thread about my broken dvx. when it broke...my heart broke along with it. waaaah!

Ooh!!! yes I remember. Cool. We'll get together after my short and try to put something together.

=P.

on the dvd...did anyone watch the Reminiscence on the first disc?

There where these random clips of live footage with cloud talking on his cell.

Was there a point to that?

It's like memoirs, basically. It's to kind of solidfy his reality and his place in ours.

It happens a lot in anime, just in different ways.

I'm probably one of the few that liked the FF- Spirits Within movie... A very metaphisical non mainstream story there, that tried to use guns and action to attract mainstream audiences to Bhudist and Shinto themes...

Anyway, FFVII was a lot lighter, but presented in a "heavier"and "cool and misterious" tone. It also relied heavily on the original FFVII RPG, which had the best script of the FF series of RPGs.

I liked FFVII Advent Children, but it certainly is NOT the best cgi movie out there. I would say Toy Story 1 and 2 are still the ones to beat.

Talking of anime...Anyone seen the new Saint Seyia TV series (Hades?) Its fantastic! Great storyline, and the BEST use of music in an Anime (since the sanctuary days)

You can always say Gainax chooses good music for their anime's, and I'd have to agree :) ...

i dunno but im checkin out a new anime i just discovered called "Noein". Very stylish and some of the fight parts remind me of some of the animation in "kid story" from the animatrix.

Personally I think advent children was better than toy story...esp in attention to detail. I don't recall toy story having such extravagent backgrounds. I did love Toy Story though.
