James Cameron: Digital Cinema Will Save Movie Biz

When they say 3d, do they mean like red and blue shift 3d or imax 3d?

imax 3d is reallllly neat whereas the red blue shift is a crappy gimmick, and I don't see either becoming a standard for film. I suppose both could be seen as a gimmick but the imax 3d is actually entertaining to watch.

hdforindies has a cool writeup as well. Cameron isn't married. He said that he wouldn't do another narrative film after titanic but now has reversed his position and is working on several projects. He was busy with several docs - ghosts of the abyss anyone? Good to see him back - he really understands the concept of hero / villain in his writing.

I'm a fan of his work not his social status.

Here's a hint: I don't watch E-TV

Me either. Celebrity Obsession is lame...

HOWEVER.

HEre's the correct way I should've said what I said: Tarantino's girlfriend wrote Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs.... funny, right? Because what's been [good] original Tarantino since then?

=) I had to call to get that corrrect, so forgive the incorrectness the first go around.

Jackie Brown rules

Kill Bill 1 and 2 rules

Errr... Jackie Brown... I dunno about.

Kill Bill 1 and 2 -- Great. But not completely original. Remember, he blatantly heralds it as an homage to his favorite flicks. But then again, that doesn't say that it's not original. I liked KB 1 and 2... (Something about Uma Thurman trying to be a Samurai turns me off, though. Lucy Liu was quite possibly the dopest character between the two.).

But, it's safe to say there was a massive quality drop in anything Originally Tarantino between Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Directing style stayed the same, narrative material flew south.

Whoa !

Jackie Brown is a a wonderful film. The most straightforward of any of his works. ANd we all know KB was homage central; so what ? What's original ? Half the shite Hollywood puts out is either a comic book or novel inspired film.

-

What didnt you like about Jackie Brown exactly ?

That's total BS.

And Jackie Brown is fantastic.

Forster's performence as Max Cherry is so good, he shouldve won the oscar.

To be fair, and honest, I havent' seen Jackie Brown in a few years. What I can remember was the movie was way too long and drawn out... and the gratuitous use of bad language wasn't to my personal liking.

Maybe I should go back and watch it. But remember, Jackie Brown is also an adaptation in itself.

You're right when you say that most films (not just hollywood) are really inpsired by others... it's just how humans work. What becomes original work is the way it's all melted together, so yes... Kill Bill v1 and v2 are original. (I even love the alias work that's always in his movies. I ALWAYS use Aliases, myself.)

I'm not trying to say he's a bad filmmaker, because he's not at all. He chooses great projects to be a part of. Maybe, though, he's a bit overrated?

If you want to say it's BS, that's fine. Do you have any information that proves me wrong?

It pretty hard to prove a negative, however, to make a statement and site "anonymous" sources...

Yeah, that's true. And they'll remain anonymous. It's not a case of "believing what I hear", it's a case of "who runs in his circle?".

But, yeah. heresay, naysay.

Lmfao. I'm totally not-hating.

It's just my [obviously incorrect] opinion that he's totally overrated. Tarantino is synonmyous with Sales Volume. If you attach his name to anything, it flies off the shelves.

And I guess what people fail to realize is that all of these massive hollywood players aren't demi-gods; they're humans. They have friends, who have friends, who live next door or are our bosses (if you live in Los Angeles.).

I don't know, but I just find that very hard to believe.

I was actually with you on that one, until I saw the family pictures. "You don't know him.. pfft quit lying."... .. "oh.. okay I guess you do. LOL".

Tarantino is truly the single most exciting filmmaker working right now. Not even Spielberg get's me going like a coming QT film. I always say 'A Tarantino film is an event' and no other filmmaker can claim that.

-

Jackie Brown based on Rum Punch ? So what.

Tarantino pay's homage ? Good.

-

His films are unique (The irony) to any other filmmaker working. At least he hasn't sold out like all of the other dude's (Raimi - Spiderman, Singer - XMen & Superman) and thank god he does not come from the Music Video World.

I love that he tells a film in a deliberate style (Like M Night) his films are classically composed (mis-en-scene) and executed with such confidence. His characters have color and are never fill-in's.

-

I know, I know. Some people dig him and some people do not, but I think he is the single coolest filmmaker working in 25 years.

But there's a reason for that and it's the quality of the projects he has done. Now, the way he's pimped Hostel, on the otherhand is just a damned shame. :(
