"D-cinema can do it, for a number of reasons, but because d-cinema is an enabling technology for 3-D. Digital 3-D is a revolutionary form of showmanship that is within our grasp. It can get people off their butts and away from their portable devices and get people back in the theaters where they belong."

Not sure I'm swayed, James. Story here.

In my past experience, 3-D looks horrible no matter when it is released and they always say it's new and fresh and the next big wave ....

Has anyone seen any examples of the new fangled hype?

Heheh!!!

I totally agree; what the hell is this dude doing ? It's like he is afraid of the mammoth sucess Titanic was.

"It's okay Jimbo. We do not expect another 1.8 BILLION DOLLAR Grossing Film"

LOL.

I love his body of work, but it's been almost ten years since Titanic.

WTF!!??

Maybe he just wanted to win the oscar and ride off into the sunset.....

I would say the same thing about QT. Time to quit being self indulgent, paying your homage to different genres and make something else new and exciting.

QT's problem is he loves the "rockstar" life of being a famous filmmaker. I think Cameron could care less about the money and the women. He's just obsessed with technology I guess.

Grind House will keep me satisifed if it is released this year and then I better see some Inglorius Bastards; damn it.

At least with Quentin we know it will be a masterpiece

Really, though. When's Tarantino going to make something original? (I guess Grindhouse is his next original move? I'm alread hearing negative things on this, though.)

Not bashing, but the guy hasn't done much but slap his name on old .JP movies and pay homage to them in the next.

Yeah, but the studios do
I don't think Cameron's problem comes from the studios or the ability to raise the money for a project with his name attached. At this point, it's gotta be deciding on a project that he feels will be taking a step forward and not just rehashing the past.

:Cough: It's just something that I heard at a certain dinner party here in Beverly Hills. I don't know how true it is, though.

Yes, the 3-D Imax version of The Polar Express was pretty damn cool, and that was a movie I didn't even really want to see in the first place. You still have to wear glasses, but the Imax glasses are bigger and more solid. This was the first movie I saw in 3-D that I didn't think was stupid and pointless.

Even so, I'm more likely to seek out a film like The Squid and the Whale at the theaters than a 3-D Imax extravaganza.

Cheers,

Josh
