Did you guys see some of my teaser thread responses?

lol, that's funny..... I don't want any of this to turn into a bashing of the poor guy. It must be hard being so closed minded though, I really feel for people like that. I just can't express that "feeling" in a thread because I might get :banned:

ha, ha! maybe. i would not be surprised that he is morally opposed to homosexuality, considers it a plague on society and that anyone making a film about it is contributing to the "problem". i'm sure his statement on "exploiting a fad" is a veiled way of saying "the fags are taking over Hollywood".

Which just means he's way behind the times. They took over Hollywood a LOOOOONG time ago. :)

It pisses me off that he thinks that just because you are doing a story about lesbians its following a fad.

Thats bullsh1t. F0cking bullsh1t. Gay culture is only finally being able to be opened to public viewing and unfortunately at this point still represents emotional and relational hardship.

Thats what f0cking dramas are about. If the relationship was perfect easy and fun it wouldn't be made into a movie. Romantic dramas are about two people in love who have to overcome obstacles to make a relationship (that shouldn't) work.

Knotting Hill.
Pretty Woman.
When a man loves a woman,
the list could go on for days.

Homosexuality is just another form of hardship to be used as a cinematic device. Not a hardship to the people mind you, but because of god damn psychopaths like Corusa. If people like Corusa didn't exist, making a movie about lesbians or gays wouldn't be important.

You're your own worst enemy.

I have some of these "conservative, religious, Bush voting" characteristics, as some have so kindly put, that Corusa possibly has.

What really upsets me is that us 'people' are lumped into one idiotic sum by a lot of people.

I agree with a post, from the original topic, I purposely avoid some films because of their content. BUT unlike Corusa, I am not going to publically judge you for what you are doing and but I probably have some of the same morals as Corusa.
But please don't lump some religious, conservative, Bush voting people into one group of people.

Because that's a load of crap.

Coffee nice work, you are out there making a movie and that's what this community is about.

Thanks Zack, I appreciate your feedback and honest views.

I've viewed many, many films that made me sick to my stomach due to the story but as a filmmaker I always go beyond the story and respect what deserves respect. DP work, direction, editing and such. I don't think I've ever bashed a filmmaker because of the story entirely.

This is nothing against you Coffee, I don't care what films you make. When you put a "Teaser" [as you put it] up for rhetorical criticism what kind of feedback did you really expect.

Are you gay? [Not that there’s anything wrong with that] Or very young? [Not that there’s anything wrong with that either] These are rhetorical questions to make a point, please; they do not deserve to be answered.

I guess what I noticed about the trailer and I think what I dislike about Hollywood’s oversimplification of gay, or any complex theme for that matter, is that if you are not gay how truly tuned into the issues that confront gays in society can you be?

This is true of white people trying to tell a black story and visa versa. Not that it can’t be done, but you are certainly tackling a difficult subject. There’s what you think you are saying and then there is what your audience is taking away.

Personally I love to watch women kissing, I keep hoping that my wife will hookup with the blond down the street. But that’s me pandering to my immature self.

These kinds of relationship stories can be incredibly difficult to get across without being trite. I didn’t get the sense that the other person was bashing you as much as responding to the “teaser.”

Besides if you’re going to take on controversial topics, criticism comes with the territory. Let us know when its completed, I look forward to watching it:)

I'll quote myself:

"I appreciate everyone's opinions, feelings and feedback. Even if it's extreme like COR's."

So you ask: "what kind of feedback did you really expect"??? I guess my quoted statement above sort of answers that question.

I'm ok with his views and yeah, I felt a bit attacked or bashed by his response. I re-read it a hunded times and still get the same feeling by it but it's water under the bridge. I let it go and keep trucking on.

Oh and by the way, I'm a 30 yr old father of three who is straight and wishes my wife would hook up with the brunette chick accross the street...... ; )

coffee did you make this film with the intention of being controversial? i didn't find anything controversial about it. who wrote the story? and why?

I didn't even think about any controversial reactions until after I posted it here. Then it hit me that there are people who strongly disagree with anything like this. The lead actress/producer wrote the story and then we both hashed out the script together. Why did she come up with the story? Well, simply because it's a true story. I think that's why she was able to get into the character so well, because she was playing herself, lol.

As for your post way up there (from earlier),I won't let it get to me. As I've said in another thread, it's water under the bridge.

Jay

Thanks for your support.

Immature is right. If you had any incling of what it was like to be bisexual, or be with a bisexual, you would realize monogamy and sexuality are completely different things.

I actually despise watching women kiss. I see no point. From a purely sexual standpoint it does nothing for me. Honestly, I dont much care for men kissing either (thats a bit of an understatement honestly) but I'll be damned if someone will pass moral judgement on what someone else does in their bedroom.

And I'm not saying you're doing that, but Corusa was. Immoral. Gross. etc. those are slanderous and rude statements simply based on his twisted view of morality.

And btw, take it from me. Keep your wife to yourself, its the best thing you could ever do!!!!

Whatever you could possibly imagine happening in your head, wont only NOT happen, but happen in the most horrific train wreck way possible. So hang on to that wonderful woman you love :)

This (and the other) thread reminds me of a scene in All That Jazz where Joe tries to explain to Michelle why there were two women kissing in his film. (Way back in 1979....so this ain't a new argument.)

But not of you are as cute as Erzsebet Foldi. :)
