Hi there,
as a still-non-HVX-user with a smoking head (from all the specs), I'd like to ask this:
My concern is, how to watch a native-hires-image (1080i) on ANY screen to determine if my image is in focus.
First I wanted to buy a 23"/24" TFT (Dell 2405/2407, Samsung 244T, HP L2335...) with YUV-HD input. They cost 1000 Euros and they can't display SD analog video in a decent way because of the lack of a decent scaling/deinterlacing engine. Well, for just HVX that would be fine.
Then I was thinking about the Gateway FPD2185W, which only has 1680x1050 pixels (fair enough for HVX 1080i, I guess) but much better SD-video qualities due to a Faroudja chip. Unfortunately it is not available in Europe and Gateway pretty much looks like a company which soon passes away :violent5: .
My latest (and probably most dumb) idea was that: I've seen that there is a DELL laptop with a 17" 1920x1200 pixel display and Core Duo processor for 1170 Euros available in Germany! Wow, that's a nice price... Getting SD-Video in this thingy is no problem at all, using an inexpensive USB or Firewire device converting SD analog video. And display could be done using the most sophisticated software scalers available, which are even better that the Faroudja chip. Check! But now how about HD video (which was the reason to get a hires display in the first place  ).
How could I get a realtime, hires image from the HVX on a notebook 1920x1200 display??
Any idea?
Can I use the HVX firewire connection?
Something that is capable of "decoding" the DVCPROHD stream over firewire in realtime to the internal screen? With the power of a 1.8 Ghz Core Duo?
Maybe there is a USB2 device that digitizes analog YUV HD into a whatever-stream (HDV, plain MPEG2) and displays the images immeiately on screen?
Would'nt that be cool? No hires-monitor necessary!
