Do you score your own music?

How do you deal with the score? I'm trying to learn Audition now, but have a long way to go before I am effective with it. I was wondering if everyone here likes to score their own film, or if they hand it off to someone else, whether they be a friend, a professional, or a what I call a "net-partner".

I needs to get myself one of them net-partners.

I ATTEMPT to score my own stuff, but I'm just learning, so I'm not good at it. Check out www.allmediastudios.com/forum there's a few members from DVXuser on there, it's a forum for all types of hobbies, but its main focus is composing and there are some VERY talented people on there.

I have in the past on a few shorts, but I'm not a muscisian. I just worked at it until it sounded good to me. I'd really like to try to get more serious about it though and get a decent setup that could plug into my computer. It's amazing what you can do you a basic audio editing program and a midi keyboard.

Sbryan,

When you say score your own movie, are you talking about adding the music to the movie during the post process, or actually creating the music from scratch?

For me, I found the music I wanted on-line (in several royalty-free sites) and actually bought Acid to create one piece of music I could not find on those sites (I did find it, but it was the intro to a Human League song, so I could not afford to license it that way). My version didn't turn out as good as the Human League song, but it worked for what I was trying to accomplish in that scene.

Doing it yourself is very time-consuming. I spend days and days downloading and listening to various pieces of music until I found the ones I really wanted.

For this last project, I used freeplaymusic.com... but I would really, really like to create my own stuff. It makes sense to me, not because I'm a musician, but because I'm a fan of both music and movies. I'll seriously watch and listen to everything I can. :love4:
