Roll Call for links - Directors FAQ

Director Mod
Hello fellow directing DVXusers. I need your help. For a while now I've known we
need a links page specifically for directors, ranging from new Directors to old hands.

A complete Directing FAQ. I've been putting it off..its going to be big...:)

Personally I would like to include subjects: Practitioners-Acting and Directing, writing, cinematography, editing, gear, software, books, agents, copyright, courses, festivals...plus everything else I can't think of right now.

I've started this thread so everyone can build up a directing bible. Together we can choose the best/ most relevant and I'll delete this and create a new thread and sticky it. We can then keep it updated together.

Who's in???

Very well, let's play opposites.

Anybody got some Mamet for me? (Would love to research it myself but I'm just cleaning up before I jet to the islands in the morning - and DING goes my DVD)

Please make a job link sticky

Please make a job link sticky

I posted this job-link thread separately, because I'm concerned it would get lost in here. Unfortunately, someone moved it into this catch-all thread.

Could you please make a separate sticky to collect links to directing job sites? This is a topic that will always be useful to members.

Thanks!

Hi PopcornFlix,

This thread is to be ammended and changed into a one sheet this week, (so it won't get lost I promise), I moved it in here because as you already said, jobs for a Director! The holy grail :)

Christian, I almost took a job with Steven Katz when he was running Pitch TV (which was to be a site for sharing indy films that unfortunately failed) Great guy!

The New England Scene for work and everything having to do with Indy filmmaking basically can be found on:

www.newenglandfilm.com

My favorite festival up here and gaining in popularity is
www.iffboston.org

The guys that run it pour their heart and soul into it and the last three opening night films with directors in attendance have been "Rick," "Lonesome Jim," and "Half Nelson."

"The End of Acting", by Richard Hornsby. It's somewhat of a technical treatise which discusses the cartesian duality of modern acting. One of my favorite books of it's kind.

I'm subscribing to this thread, since I just found it and will add stuff as time goes by. :)
