"Great" Movies that Suck

I think that Clerks sucks and yet people claim that Kevin Smith is a diety.
I saw Clerks once and unfortunately it is time I can never recover.

I think that Pearl Harbor is a piece of crap film that goes beyond the definition of sucking into Hoover territory.
I think it's more like an Oreck. It just sucks so bad it hurts to even think about.

ON a side note; I am watching Gladiator now and the opening battle has ZERO reverse shots. It is all from a staged perspective with the trees as a background

I told you that it didn't deserve best picture. I just think that it is overhyped, maybe not falling into 'sucking' territory, but not best picture.

I think that one of the movies that gets a lot of credit for being this great film are things like Koyanitasi (sp?) and the sequels, but honestly, I just can't get into it.

Isn't Dyson that doesn't lose sucction? That film can't stop sucking.

Okay, here's one that stole and Academy Award that should have gone to GoodFellas...Dances With Wolves. Other than Graham Greene, I can't find one redeeming quality in this POS. It is Kevin Costner at his self-indulgent worst, except perhaps for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves...or Waterworld...or The Postman...or....

<shields up> I thought Crash was completely gimmicky and unbelievable. It reminded me of a preachy after-school special with pure hack writing. Man, the dialogue made me wince when I wasn't rolling my eyes. You know what's more believable than the characters in Crash? G*damn hobbits! That's what. :) <shields down>

I hope I don't get lynched, but I think the LOTR Trilogy is overrated. If I had to grade them I would go:

Fellowship: B-
Two Towers: C
Return of the King: B+

so it aggrivates me when the mass majority is like OH MY F'n GOD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++++ WHOO WHEE (in a cowboy curtis voice)

I thought they were good, but I just can't understand the reaction that they were sent from the heavens. I'm a LOTR's fan too. I think Peter Jackson missed a lot of humor that Tolkien had. It was too melodramatic and unnecessarily, almost anal-retentively intense through most of it. Even the staged "lighter" sided scenes were just off.

Don't get me started on the flamboyant color schemes. The films needed more of an organic feel IMO.

Forrest Gump. Thank god there wasn't a loaded gun or a razorblade nearby when I watched that film. Hated every frame of that movie. Clerks - agree 1000%.

Here's a couple of suckos from the 80s:

Ordinary People
Chariots of Fire
On Golden Pond
and maybe the worst of them all: Terms of Endearment
oops, almost forgot Out of Africa

and the unwatchable Steel ****ing Magnolias

WTF?

This one says LOTR was blase and now the Gump ?

Bring out the Gimp!

LOL. I even quit watching the oscars for a few years after Gump won everything. I just don't get it...

LOL Dustino !

Ordinary People
Chariots of Fire
On Golden Pond
and maybe the worst of them all: Terms of Endearment
oops, almost forgot Out of Africa

Ordinary People beating out RAGING BULL ? ELEPHANT MAN ?

Chariots of Fire beating Raiders of the Lost Ark ?

Terms of Endearment beating out The Right Stuff ?

Out of Africa beating out Witness ? The Color Purple ?

We all know the Oscars are nothing but politics. I mean, who votes for this shi* ? All of those films have one thing in common:

Hated it!

and still, to my mind one of the biggest injustices ever perpetuated by The Academy was giving the best picture Oscar to Driving Miss Daisy, over Do The Right Thing.

Maybe...

But I tend to gravitate towards mainstream:

Oscar winners I agree with ?

Titanic
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Amadeus
Forrest Gump
Braveheart
The Godfather
The Godfather II
Gladiator
Schindler's List
