there's always plenty of "favorites" lists going around. thought it might be interesting to note the worst of everyone's favorite filmmakers. i did a search for this topic. please don't crucify me if i missed a similar thread.

okay, let me qualify my list by saying that I tend to avoid the known duds in a filmmaker's oeuvre. and i don't necessarily dislike the films i've listed. they are just the "lesser" of the films i've seen by a particular filmmaker. and so...

Wes Anderson - The Life Aquatic
Michaelangelo Antonioni - Zabriskie Point
Ingmar Bergman - Autumn Sonata

I can't name a bad Spielberg film IMO.

and you're joking about Dr. Strangelove right? that movie was excellent. Come on!
I don't think I can name a bad Hitchcock movie either. all of them were great.

I personally like Punch Drunk Love. The Life Aquatic was very entertaining. Just my opinion though...

if you read my post you'll see i qualified the list by saying that i don't necessarily think theyre bad films, just that i admire them the least. i mean, with regard to spielberg, there has to be something at the bottom of the list for you. hook, maybe?

and yeah, when i look at Barry lyndon, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut, Paths of Glory, etc.... Dr Stangelove is at the bottom of the list for me. possibly tied with The Shining. never saw Killer's Kiss though.

no there isnt anything at the bottom of my Spielberg list because I find them all entertaining in their own way. Hook was very entertaining to me. No less than AI, Minority Report ET etc.

I'd put Strangelove WAY above Eyes Wide Shut, Full Metal Jacket etc. But that's just me...

that is INSANITY, BRO!!!!! ;)

how is that insanity when in your OWN list you put some of your filmmakers never dissapointed you?

Nuri Bilge Ceylan - never disappointed
Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne - never disappointed
David Gordon Green - never disappointed
Christopher Guest - never disappointed
Hou Hsiao Hsien - never disappointed
Krzysztof Kieslowski - never disappointed
Lynne Ramsey - never disappointed
Andrei Tarkovsky - never disappointed
Béla Tarr - never disappointed

unless you're talking about Strangelove... but that's still not insanity...

i'm just giving you are hard time because i see a huge difference between raiders, jaws, close encounters and lost world, hook, 1941.

and i should take this opportunity to revise on. Christopher Guest does[/] have a lesser film now that i think about it -- The Big Picture.

Maybe we should give you a hard time for listing those g*dd*mned art house ***** filmmakers.

Hook did suck though

Another Bela Tarr fan... uh oh.

Punch Drunk - for me it's by far his best work.

I loved Dancer in the Dark... the singing wears a little thin, but overall it's just so engaging and heartwrenching, well acted and uniquely shot.

Strangelove is hilarious.

Million Dollar Hotel was such a dud!

Haven't seen Cigarettes, but I wasn't a big fan of Broken flowers, too many driving scenes then Murray sitting in silence looking around.

Someone's feeling pretty full of themself.

No no no

Not like that. I'm humble as a mumble

I meant, I do not ever feel 'stressed' that someone is giving me a hard time. I can take it.

Just feeling my oats, John. I know better. Say...you're a family man, what the hell are you doing here on Easter?

I have been sick recently from my son (They bring home some weird things sometimes) and have not worked out in exactly

3 weeks and 3 days

This much different than the:

3 to 6 Miles per week running
2 Miles swimming
Dead Hangs
Basketball and Tennis (when I could squeeze it in)

Routine I had been doing for the last 90 days.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways; I think I'm good now. Manana I go back and start over what has been lost in almost a month in sedentary (I had like ebola or bird flu goign on)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking into changing routine around a bit:

And I have to drop some weight for the 10K Mud Run in June.

Can't believe I smoked for 20 + years
