Premiere Pro - Image Matte Key help!

I'm pretty sure it has to do with pixel aspect ratio. Your images are at 1 pixel, whereas video is .9. I'm pretty sure you can open up photoshop and when you go to save it you can set the pixel aspect ratio. I THINK that's what the problem is.

Eric, i think dj200423 is on the right track here.

Since you are editing a widescreen project, select the video file/s in the Project Window and take a look at what the numbers in pharantesis says to the right of the thumbnail in the Project Window. Does it say (0.9) or (1.2)? If it says (0.9) it is wrong, it must say (1.2) if the footage is widescreen. Then, make sure that the matte's PAR match the footages, ie (1.2).

If the video file/s show up in the Project Window as (0.9), go to File > Interpret Footage and Conform the PAR to 1.2. Repeat with each file to conform them to a PAR of 1.2 if nessesary.

Mixing PAR's in a project do always causes trouble similar to yours - the video become distorted.

The footage should be: 720x480 with a PAR of 1.2. The matte must have a PAR of 1.2. Any other resolution and/or PAR on the footage and other PAR on the matte than 1.2 in your project will cause you problems, guaranteed.

PAR stands for Pixel Aspect Ratio

Thanks, Averdahl!

Turns out my mistake was trying to export the file as a TIFF. When I used a Photoshop file (1.2 PAR) all the badness went away!

Thanks again.
