Im so Gay

It is for me. IMHO. Each BTS DVD covers Pre-production thru Post-Production for each film. It's not nuts and bolts, step-by-step stuff. But if you pay attention to what they're showing you can get an interesting education.

And there is very little digital effects info. Most of these films were made before CGI was widely available. There's a little bit for Alien Ressurection but that's mostly it.

Which to me isn't a problem. I'm planning on using more old-fashioned effects techniques in my next project. 95% of CG in films today just isn't doing it for me.

And we are SO off topic. Sorry everyone.

Seriously? What sort of stuff is covered? Technical? story? acting? I've been wanting to start a small collection of good BTS DVD's and am after recommendations. You think this would be up there near the top?

ya its really good. I read somewhere that there was a whole other documentary about the making of it with interviews with fincher and the studio cut it out cause it was so negative.

The three disc panic room is also a great BTS

Well, there are certain movies I watch alone, but King Kong was not one of them. I was a tad disappointed. I watched a King Kong marathon starting with the 1933 version (far superior) and then the Peter Jackson version.

Has JAMES REMAR, in his ultra homo-erotic "Warriors" vest, hand cuffed to a park bench, put up a post yet?

"What's a matter, you going faggot?!"

That being said, if we watch a movie, cry, then get an urge to re-inact a scene from OZ, then well, it's possible one could be gay.

Just crying at the end of a movie? Gay in some states and religions, but not all.

Every guy getting something in there eye, just as Doc Holliday passes away at the end of Tombstone? Definitely NOT gay.

Hmm.. This really makes me wonder..
Does being a Rocky Horror Picture Show fan make me gay?

I still haven't seen that box, but interesting to hear about the doc being pulled like that. If you ever want to read a great interview where Fincher talks about what the hell happened with Alien3, check out the 6- or 7-page article in Premiere magazine from that year -- the 'Hollywood/power' issue, I seem to recall, with Sigourney Weaver on the cover. Fincher talks about how he was the third director on the film and how he was only given the money in the budget for something like 5 major effects shots when the previous films had something closer to a dozen or more in each.

Sigourney was paid 4 million for that film -- the highest amount a woman actor had ever been paid at that point (and probably why she was picked for the 'power' cover photo). I think there's something in the article about how it was originally going to be three but when Fincher wanted her to shave her head she asked for another million and she got it.

In regards to Kong, it was a great movie but I found Lord of the Rings to be more of a tear jerker, and T2, yeah that ending was sad. I was a HUGE Arnold fan growing up, I still have terminator figures. hehe

Yes, it was a bit hard to not drop a tear watching Kong =). It also, once again, proved to me that a lot of things depend on the director, as a movie about a giant gorilla has made me sad, and not many dramas do.

As to LOTR, I was waiting for Sam to explain his love for Frodo. And then Sam got married... Oh well, maybe there will be LOTR4 with Frodo getting back and explaining his feelings to Frodo *hugs the teddy bear*.

Anyway, LOTR was indeed just a Bit of a tear jerker. The last scene with the goodbye felt a little stretched, as if wanting to every single person in the theatre to start sobbing. But it's still good. Gotta love movies like LOTR. Sad and happy at the same time.

A touching story. I was very moved at the Ice Rink scene. Beautiful.

You had me at "do you have a size 57 wide?"

That WAS a gorgeous scene. I hated everything that came after though (meaning: bastards, why did they have to shoot him in the back????!!!)
