DVD Architect not seeing burner on IDE...Firewire OK

Weird problem, Sony's website wasn't too helpful neither and a search here yielded no result.

DVD Architect 3.0c has no trouble seeing my Pioneer A08 burner on a firwire connection, but refuses to see any burners (Pioneer 110AXL, Plextor 760A - both latest FW) on IDE (WinXP Pro SP2, Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB).

Tried the "Skip the burner database" suggestion to no avail...anybody got any idea? I have not yet re-installed the software. It worked fine on my old compouter, though (Asus P4P800).

Help is appreciated!

make sure you have the jumper pins on the internal DVD burner set to what ever setting the C drive is set to ... if C drive is set to cable select then ALL internal drives on MB must be cable select ... if C drive is set to MASTER then all drives must either be master or slave on MB ide channels ... so that would make your DVD burner either a master or slave ...

My HDDs are all SATA, CD Rom is the only IDE drive

My HDDs are all SATA, CD Rom is the only IDE drive

Thanks, but the CD Rom is the only IDE drive and it is Master on the first IDE channel.

Go to device manager and see if you can see the drives there...maybe it is not reccognized when you bootup your system and if that is the case then make sure you drivers are also updated for SP2. If both out it maybe a bad IDE cable.

It's working now...

It's working now...

I don't know what did it. At first, I uninstalled DVD Architect, then Vegas.

Reinstallation casued an sfcd.cdd failure...

Then I uninstalled other DVD recording programs that may have been monitoring the drive (thus blocking it). Too lzay to eliminate variables, I also unmounted virtual CD drives and now its working.

Both sfcd.cdd failures have diappeared and I can see the burner jsut fine.

Thanks for your help anyways!
