Cost of the G35?

Because The Adapters Sent To My Address Are For Testing, No Charges Can Be Made To My Account

Darn it! I wish I could buy them all and spend a month just making tests.

Either that or this could be one of those cases where "If you can't tell the difference... does it matter which one you choose?"

I always chuckle when people exclaim things like "I can't figure out which one is mine, they both look exactly the same." Simple solution to problems like that.

The difference can be told and is very clear between each adapter. But some have its' strenghts and its' weaknesses. Some work better with certain cameras and some simply don't. Nothing like testing a piece of equipment exaustively to make your own conclusions.

negative, the brevis will come to 915 US and the redrock 995, because neither one should be used without a railing system.
someday brevis it costs the double of the first announced price :thumbdown

edit

or isn't it already and I didn't realize?..

in the HVX grabs section there's some footage with the beta G35. It takes about 5 seconds of viewing to realize that this adapter blows doors on everything else on the market.

NAB2006 seems like a logical release. Here's to that!

it's actually not a dead link. qt7.

i'd recommend watching it. i was extremely impressed by that footage.

I clicked on the link and an error msg showed up saying the page cannot be displayed or something like that.

The G35 was already a thing of wonder when they had the static version. I cannot even begin to imagine what it'll be capable of with the vibrating version.

I just watched the clip and thought it looked good in general.

There was only one thing I noticed. There is an aerial image around the out-of-focus objects. It is obvious around the fence wires, towards the end of the clip, and around the pipes on the wall in the background, in the very last shot (laughing guy). To me, this suggests insufficient GG diffusion.

But hey, you only get to notice this kind of stuff after you built your own adapter(s), searching for the perfect diffusion/bokeh...

One thing you might want to find out about this footage is which version of the beta adapter was used. There were hi-lux and low-lux versions. The low-lux has better low light performance, but tends to exhibit some of the artifacts you mentioned. Based on this, I would guess it might be a low-lux version. The bokeh on the hi-lux adapter was really fantastic. Look at any of macgregors footage for examples. I believe that similio was shot on the DVX, but a lot of his other footage is HDV. It is my opinion that the hi-lux G35 is the best image I have seen from one of these adapters.

Interesting. I looked at a few of Macgregor’s clips off the Cinemek site and the diffusion looks indeed better, although it would be easier to evaluate with higher rez clips.

Has the light loss been measured with both versions?

I think the production model is under wraps. I haven't seen any info on it at all other than "we will not be dissappointed".

It's gunna be a sick device. Even the static delivers beautifully. I can't seem to access their site....

any new info there?

I believe the last known info was that the hi-lux version was around 1.5 stops and the low-lux version was around 1 stop. Personally I pre-ordered the hi-lux version, as I prefer the bokeh quite a bit over the low-lux version. I would anticipate that the moving GG versions might lose a bit less light. One thing to keep in mind is that even a hollow tube causes light loss (macro extension tubes anyone?). Considering the length needed for proper focusing, I would think the best one can hope for is about 1 stop of loss.

You are correct. This was actually adapter #1. It does have a slight arial image component passing. The production units will not have this.
