Need a definitive answer: can you use the canon zr500 to capture 24padvanced in FCP?

I'm about ready to buy the canon zr500 as a cheap deck and I need a defintive answer. Can you capture 24p advanced into FCP with it? What are the settings?

Yes you can. If fact you can use any deck or camera to capture 24pA. the pull down cadence is encoded on either the TC track or User Bit track. I use a JVC deck to capture my 24pA footy and always get 24 complete frames.

I will confirm this as well. YES you can. I've been using a Sony (DSR-11) deck before the DVX100a 24pa came out and use it daily for capturing 24pa, 24p, 60i, 30p footage. No problems at all.

I'm using a ZR100 as my "deck". Works great.

And does FREE RUN timecode pass right through the cheaper cams no problem too?
