Your Favorite Short Film

I have been watching a bunch of short films and have been trying to see what other people have done and where they have gone within the paramaters of a short film. I have obviously been watching the ones from here. I have been watching ones from the IFC Channel and the Sundance Channel. I've checked out some from Atomfilms and a few other sites. But I want to get a little more focused on the cream of the crop in people's opinion.

What are some people's favorite short films? Films that took you and lost you in their world. Films that made you think or feel. Films that slapped you in the face and made you say, Damn!

If they are online or there is a way for me to see them it would be great.

I pick up the "Best of Resfest" compilation DVDs which are generally very interesting, as were the Atomfilms compilations from a few years ago. Here are some of my faves:

Copy Shop (all-time favorite, animated from photocopies)
In God We Trust
Zen and the Art of Landscaping
Titler (a Hitler lookalike transvestite singing showtunes)
George Lucas in Love

Toss up bectween George Lucas In Love and Fait d'Hiver.

Leaning heavily toward the 2nd. Suits my sense of humor much more. :)

The short I've seen that was the most entertaining was one I saw at a fest in Long Beach last year called, Morphine. I also REALLY enjoyed ODD Squad from our very own Jack Stanley!

You should try to see "Dumplings" from Hong-Kong director Fruit Chan. Here's a scary thriller that's disturbingly realistic.

That DVD is great, as is Copy Shop. But my favorite short is also on it- It is called "More" and was the first (and only?) stop motion film shot in IMAX. I think it played before Everest in some markets. Also I'm a big fan of Rodriguez's "Bedhead".

"Le Jette" by Chris Marker.

It was the inspiration behind "12 Monkeys"

It's probably the most minimalist sci-fi, time-travel short ever produced.
