Do I Need a 16:9 Format Anamorphic Lens Adaptor ?

Okay, I'm planning to buy a DVX100B so that I can shoot a movie for festivals. Through my research, I've noticed the various stores touting the 16:9 Format Anamorphic Lens adaptor.

How much of a difference does this lens adaptor make?

Any advice would be appreciated, as would any suggestions as to what accessories I should purchase with my camera. I'm doing my research now so I know what to buy when the time comes.

Thanks!

There's many different views on the anamorphic adapter around here. I would do a search of the forum and read through some of the threads, that'll give you a good idea what different people think.

When using the original DVX100 I used the adapter because I wanted my final DVD's to be in true anamorphic widescreen when played back on 16x9 television sets. The newer models of DVX100's have squeeze mode. It will give you an anamorphic image, but with some resolution loss as compared to the adapter. It's a bit of a trade-off, so it really would come down to budget and preference.

If your goal is a large screen like a festival would have I'd lean towards the adapter.

Thanks for the excellent advice! I appreciate the info. I will definitely do the research, but getting advice definitely helps. Thanks!

I'm going to be so broke! :-)
