Foolish history
April Fools' Day has uncertain
origins. Some say it is related to the changing of the seasons, and some connect it to the changing calendar. At one time, the new year celebrations began March 25 and ended April 1. This changed in 1582, when the Gregorian calendar was adopted, and the beginning of the new year was changed to Jan. 1. According to popular belief, many people didn't believe or hear of the date change and continued to celebrate the new year on April 1. These people were called "April Fools."

Around the world
Worldwide practices include sending someone on a "fool's errand," looking for things that don't exist; playing pranks; and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things.

The French call April 1 Poisson d'Avril, or "April Fish." French children sometimes tape a picture of a fish on the back of their schoolmates, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when the prank is discovered.

"The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year." Mark Twain Sources: www.infoplease.com, www.bartleby.com, The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia

I said this too my wife

In all honesty ? Tarantino is the only filmmkaer working today where I would feel jipped if he passed on. I'd be so upset that I'd never get another Tarantino film

No, I cannot say the same for my master Spielberg as his body of work is great enough for 2 lifetimes.

I teach an after school program to high school students beginning film production in San Francisco. They're mostly 15-17 year olds.

Apon opening up DVX user while my kids were editing in class today, I saw the thread here and thought .. "no..." and opened it up. And smiled.

Then I blurted out loud "Oh my god! Quentin Tarantino died in a car crash!"

Everyone turned around, puzzled. "Who's Quentin Tarantino?"

Are we really that old? :(

Well, it's not 'exact', but here's what my puzzle means.

banana - Anna Kournikova [first name only] = ban

Anna Kournikova [last name only] - corn = Kova

Land Rover - land = Rover (of course, I was implying "Rova")
