SuperDolly: Skater Dolly's Big Brother

After playing around and making a few skater dollys off the plans supplied by teddybear I had to scale it up. The result is a plywood and aluminum superdolly. It follows the classic plywood construction but modified and with larger wheelbarrow wheels. It allows for a full sized tripod to be mounted on top and can move over rough asphalt with hardly a shake. Check out the pics here:

Love the idea, though I wonder how easy it will be to manuver ... perhaps with a really big T bar (or two) for assistants to steer & push.

I've often wondered how wheel barrow wheels would do as well, though I'd go for the ones that are even more rounded & softer than those.

Nice work ... any footage available, specifically going over asphalt, etc.?

Can you upload some footage of it in action? Thanks.

What follows is some footage I took with the BarrowDolly at an earlier stage than it is in the picture. I hadn't made the stage for the tripod or the crossbars and due to the placement of the tripod legs on the aluminum spars instead of the wheel hubs it had a little more jostle than it does now. Despite that it looks pretty hot. I should have time in a few days to post some of the new footage but for now please enjoy the trial runs.

The guy in the footage is pretty funny. The footage is pretty damn good. It has a very slight shake but overall its pretty damned impressive, good job!

Waefre I have to hand it to you. You took something and really stepped outside of the box with it. Brilliant. Take the skater dolly and make it..bigger. Simple yet amazing.

Can you supply some photos of the wheels and mounts and some of the equipment you used. Thanks.

waefre, amazing. Looks great!

Couple of questions:

Where did you get the wheels? Size?

What did you use to allow for them to rotate freely? A big thrust bearing, lazy susan, what?

I have to build this!

Excellent job.

I'm with JasonFox - this thread has teased us, purt near worthless without a parts list :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Oh, and the plans. Where are the plans?

FUN video clip! Loved it, and some GREAT shots too, especially for DIY!! Thanks for sharing ... plans would be cool.
