Is there a time and a way to hook my imac up to my Sony TV?

Thanks for all the help everybody. I know very little about this process although I'm trying to learn everything I can before asking questions here. Often I find out too much then need clarification to unconfuse me.

I'm shooting and editing a standard defintion docu. Can I hook my Imac up to our standard defintion interlaced T.V. during editing and what would the advantages be?

What is the cheapest way to do this?

Ralph -- Keep asking... I'm over my 'mood' now.

Here's what most of us do for external monitoring...

CPU -> FW -> Deck or Camera -> RCA cables into Broadcast Monitor... (I use a normal TV)

I've got my audio going from the CPU to the AUX input of an old receiver and the Deck's audio going to the CD input of the receiver. This way I can flip back and forth between audio.

In FCP -- make sure View - External Video -- is set to ALL FRAMES and your video is set to follow FW.

That shoudl get you started... or at least give you more questions.

Good luck,

Thanks Cap. and again another question. What is the advantage of toggling back and forth between the decks audio and the cpu's?

The deck's audio is in perfect sync with the video, the CPU might be lagging a little, from what I understand.

Exactly. And, the default when viewing external video is Audio Follows Video... so the audio goes out over FW too.

Plus, I can't play Call of Duty without sending the computer sound out to my audio monitors too!!
