Sync in Vegas for Music Video. HELP

Help!

Help!

Ok, I knew that. But the time line kept jumping too far when I would drag it. I figured out how to make it smooth...BUT.....I can sync one shot up with the song, but when trying to add the other 2 takes I can't get it to sync. What is the best way to get everything lined up, make different cuts and still keep everything in syc.
Do I line up all 3 takes on the time line with the audio track sync it to the BEEP and then just use something to CUT out the parts I don't want? I'm pretty new at VEGAS Sorry.

That's what I did for the music video I did last year. I synced everything up and then just got rid of what I didn't want.

Thanks Horse man!

Thanks Horse man!

Hey thanks a lot! My pride almost gets in the way since I have been doing this for so many years. But times have changed for sure! Some of this is new to me so I figure I will take advice and input where i can!

THANKS AGAIN! IT WORKED!

One more thing....Audio Format

One more thing....Audio Format

What was the Audio format you used when laying down the music? WAV? MP3?

I used a WAV ripped from their CD.

I'm glad it worked for you. When I did mine, I had no idea what to do. I just guessed that if I did it that way, it would work. It did.:)

Music Video...Which one?

Music Video...Which one?

Which music video did you do? Can you post the link so I can see it?

Also, I see you used FLASH for your web site. Did you do that yourself? Nice site.

What I did with my music video, I just riped the audio in the time line, left it alone, then cut the video directly to the audio. It worked for me, but it was a headache.
There's gotta be an easier way, but I think the pros use some kind of special sync device while shooting the video on set then it automatically sync up in post.. I think..

which I new more on this.

When I worked on a music video a year ago..All they did was to playback the actual studio recording and have the singers sing in sync to it. But of course the production was shooting on film was using Panavision 35mm cameras and Nagra's for audio. They also did a lot of closeup footage for solos and coverage shots to be later used for cutaways.

If you want fine control to adjust the audio make sure to turn off "snapping" and "quantize to frames." That will permit you to put the sound anywhere you damn well please, even interframe. :)

Also, watch out for drift. Just because you sync one part of your scene -- say the beginning -- by the end it might not be in sync anymore. Then you have to stretch something, probably best to stretch audio, but this can cause problems. Also, the wav you ripped from CD will be at 16/44.1 and the audio recorded in camera will be 16/48, and those differences can help cause drift too. Anyway, things to look out for.

when i shoot music videos i use the microphone on the DVX to record the audio playback that the artist is singing along to. then i can look at the waveforms to visually sync up the video (which has audio attached to it) to the song itself.
