Did someone say easy?

It's 3in in length. It's to have the added length so you can put the macro glass inside the tube instead of having the macro's screwed onto the back of the tube. It's your choice. The pictures you see is the 2inch tube with the marco's screwed onto the back.

What do you think about using this:

plus this

plus these

in order to compensate for the extra length needed to put the macro inside?

I'm thinking maybe having a 1" lens tube ahead of pic 1 and the 2" behind it... then let's run the support (pic 1) down to one of these:

If you had a 1" rail like that and a secure way to fix it to pic 1 using one of the sliding bolts that they supply... it seems like you could have a really simple rail system using one rail instead of two for dirt cheap and it should totally unify a DVX with the DOF adapter.

What do you think?

Thanks for the help by the way... this is one area where I'm green as grass.

That actually look really good man. I'd try to give that a shot. Let me know if it workds out because it makes it seem really easy to have a rail support system without buying Cavasion support rods. I would only question if it would work with a FF. Sure if there are enough DIY guys it will work out.

Thanks Car3o. My question is this. You are placing the macro's right between the tube and the DVX lens, right? Two of the +10's? Just trying to clarify that.

Yeah, that's right. They are 52mm and use a step up ring from there to attatch to the camera. I would try different types of macro's and different strengths, but it wouldn't help until I get a camera.

Ok, this brings me to two questions. This is the same basic set up I have as well. But I only have one +10 macro, which doesn't seem to be enough when placed so close to the GG. I think there would be better magnification with less aberration if there was more distance between the macro and the GG. Any thoughts on using only one maro with more distance between the GG and the macro?

This also brings me to another question. I think it would cut down the aberration if we still stacked the macros but turned one of them around. This would create an 'almost' achromat effect and thus lower the aberration. I still think it would help to move the GG further away, but I may be wrong. Has anyone tried this with this design?

Hmm....so the +7 is right next to the GG but there is a condenser used also? Interesting, very interesting. I've seen that clip before but didn't have details on the setup.

I suppose that's why this thread is considered "DIY" or else it would be called "BIY" Buy it Yourself.

The condeser you can purchase off at Optosigma. They're only around 37dollars.
Also, I've heard of the Hoya macro's being really good.

lol no but seriously, is it just because its harder to do?

What is the better quality?

i think if you were to make your own wax screens it shouldn't be a problem, but to make them in mass you'd be better off just finding something in place of that.
i'd say it's like 50-50 getting a good screen out of wax. Just takes time.
