Marshall V-R70P-HDA HD/SD Monitor - GREAT PRICE!

I've been thinking about getting one of these once the cinemek finally cuts loose - looks awesome - I do like the focus assist feature in the HVX - however, its difficult when you're shooting fast moving subjects

That's a great price. I used the Marshall on a 2 week feature shoot and coudln't be happier with its performance, definitely a must have for HD film making.

I've got some questions about that monitor if you've got the time?

How accurate is the color on this.
Can you use it for 1080 as well as 720?
Will the image fill the screen in either format?
Are there presets for color settings?
What about SD?

Whatare the inputs?

Thanks

The Marshall displays 1080i/720P/480P or i. It will display 1080P but in the i form.

Yes you can use it for both.

It fills the screen completely yes.

No presets.

Handles SD without a problem.

S-Video and Component PIN-BNC as well as standard RCA. :nads:

Thanks, Sounds pretty good though I would like presets.

How accurate (& pleasing) is the color and the contrast?
I'm concernecd because the Dell is very disappointing on that score.

That is a great price... I'm so close to biting the bullet.... thanks for the link.

when using the onboard monitor, can you still run feed to a video village for the director or are you stuck with just one monitor?

Uhm.... It's 800x480 guys... I don't really call that HD. There are plenty of 800x600 displays on the market with a good s-video input for less than 200€... For that low resolution s-video seems still fine to me.

yeah, but do they accept component HD and have decent color space?
thats the question.

well, compare component HD to
SD from S-Video. completely different color space.
Plus this monitor will compare to YUB instead of RGB
that a typical lcd screen would be.

Have a look at the features.

It's superb for HD monitoring from the HVX200. Plus I mounted it right on top of my camera.

Also, I recommend something like a Bescor NMH-65A 14.4V NiMH

Comes with a nice auto charger to prevent overcharging.

It's surprisingly compact as well - about the height and width of a 1st/2nd gen iPod, but about 2 inches think. Would clip easily to waist/belt or a clamp and a loop.

And finally, get a 4-pin XLR style power extender cable.

The power cable that comes with the monitor is a bit short when you're trying to run AC to the monitor on top of the camera (or in the vicinity).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this monitor doesn't have a flip or invert feature, does it? This feature is imperative if one is to use the M2 or I don't see any indication in any literature... thoughts?

It has a mount that can be placed on the bottom, top or either side, you just have to unscrew it and mount it the way you need it.
