Chaps,

My PAL HVX is here!

Couple of queries...

1.Anyone in the UK know of good suppliers of Peli Cases (1550) ?

2.What's the cheapest anyone has seen P2 cards?

3.Also, any recomendations on companies for equipment insurance?

Cheers for your suggestions.

Jeff

Congratulations on your new arrival.

1. I know Creative Video do Peli cases - generally, they're good on price. Check www.creativevideo.co.uk. As an alternative, I recently bought a Storm case (similar spec, slightly cheaper) from Prokit in Chiswick - very friendly bunch, good service. www.prokit.co.uk.

3. I've always used Aaduki (formerly Anchorman Insruance) - www.aaduki.com. Fortunately, I've never had to claim, but again, service has always been pretty efficient and premiums competitive.

I'm really curious on your question about insurance. My buddy and I have purchased the HVX and other equpiment that is adding up to quite a pretty penny. We have a production company and would like to insure that equipment under the company. We've never done this and have no idea what premiums would be, deductables, etc. I know these number vary, but what are people's experience with having an insurance policy on you cameras and equipment.

1. Try www.camerasunderwater.co.uk They have a range of cases and do a Peli equivalent of a 1550 at £115 (inc VAT) whereas the Peli 1550 is £163 (inc VAT). I have the Amabilia 2700 and the thing is bomb proof, just as good as the peli and a damn sight cheaper.

2. Get in touch with Mitcorp.co.uk They seem to have them from stock and are pretty cheap. Alternatively purchase them in the USA and ship as a gift.

3. Are you a BECTU Member? If not, why not? Membership privilages include discounted insurance amongst other things.

hope the above helps.

Peace

Rich

I had insurance with the previously afformentioned ANCHORMAN INSURANCE. They are very good and fully understand the business. My premiums were around £300 per month for worldwide coverage of equipment, this cost included my steadicam system hence the high price. I believe a few rental companies here in the UK use ANCHORMAN
because they know the industry so well. Unfortunately I had to make a claim back in 2004 for a replacemnt DSR500 Camcorder and Wide Angle Fuji Lens (both were trashed) but ANCHORMAN sorted out everything very quickly and efficiently. My loss adjuster arranged a meeting a within 4 months my kit was replaced. During the 4 month period ANCHORMAN covered any cross hired equipment I had to hire in.

Fantastic servive but you get what you pay for.
