Magnet to flip LCd

I'm kinda worried about using a magnet to flip the LCD. I was playing around with my DVX and I used a fridge magnet to flip the LCD. The screen went black!!! It scared the bejeesus out of me. I removed the magnet and thank God the screen came back on. I guess the magnet I used might have been a little too strong. Has anyone else had this experience?

The magnet trick doesn't work on the HVX200 or DVX100B.
