Did Cinemek (Guerilla35) go ::puff::? R.I.P?

it's been 2 to 3 days and the Guerilla35 site is down and out!

What happened? Is it over? R.I.P.? a wardrobe malfunction?

anything?

No, his hard drive crashed so he sent it to a data recovery center or something like that. Either way, Jon's confirmed that it'll be a couple days before it's restored, but it is back up, just not in it's full form..........

Imagen $1300.00 for an adapter. A year of talks and you can't keep your homepage up? Makes you think Hmmmmm...

well, i understand what he is saying because usually you dont host your websites straight from your computer. you pay a someplace like globat.com to host your website to store your information so I think he has a valid question. Unless of course he really is hosting his website from his own personal computer and has crazy upload bandwith.

exactly - it's not common you find people hosting an entire professional website with a legitimate product..from your own computer. but uh, if that's the case..well then there you go.

not exactly the smartest thing to do, i'd say. specifically for reasons like this.

Here is an interesting idea....
wouldn't it suck if all pre-ordering info was lost and we would have to pre-order again.....ooooh I don't even want to think of that....

:D

now i'm back to reality

Preorder info is not lost, and no, we are not running our server from a MacMini. Our host is going to be working over the next week to get all of the elements online including the forum back up and running. Thanks for your patience all!

Jonathan,

I want to say that I think you have a tremendous amount of patience and you take criticism and naysayers very well. I see the kind of thing you have to deal with and sometimes it's just not pretty.

I sometimes imagine being in your shoes and just throwing my hands up and saying to hell with it all.

So kudos to you.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm curious. There is a lot of talk and buzz about the G35 on this board, and obviously a lot of people are waiting for it. Is there something that makes it more desirable than other adapters? A little backstory would be nice if anyone cares to share.

A while ago people started making their own 35mm adapters and their were all sorts of problems and even the good ones had issues. Then along somes this Guerilla35 and the image is incredible, and even for a static adapter. It was near grainless, sharp as hell and small for run n' gun.

The reason it's so anticipated is it's optical path has to be pretty impressive because even sh*tty footage shot by amatuers looks incredible. I was going to go with Redrock but even the best footage still looks a little 16mm-ish but they both have a unique look. I had planned to buy both but the footage from the G35 was just too damn impressive. Redrock is an amazing company that started a little shaky but now seems to be going smooth and their shipping times have dropped drastically.

There's a huge ongoing battle between the Guerilla35 and Micro35. The biggest debate is whether the Guerilla35 will actually come out but the faithful still hold on.

What made me pre-order it (I'm 22nd in line!!) was the incredible footage and the fact that Barry Green was impressed with a BETA unit so I can only imagine what the production unit will do. I'm just still trying to keep the faith as many others are in that the adapter will be released (soon, we pray).

Well, keep in mind that the beta unit I used was a completely different design. That was static, and the new CineMek G35 is a vibrating ground glass design.

well, to put it bluntly, the g35 footage has been the best footage I have seen up to date from a 35 adapter. And if all goes acording to plan, the production version of the g35's footage will be better looking than the betas....and thats saying a lot. Too bad everyone wants one...I will probably not be able to get my hands on one for a long time esp since I wasn't even able to make it on the preorder list :crybaby:
