Wow Thank you. I haven't been called young in years but it makes me feel good. As for you I'm sorry your glory days are gone. And now left alone to cruz the audio boards putting your two cents here and there.

But I'm done. And only have one thing more to say.
The Tascam is a well made peace of equipment for a reasonable price. More people should try it and give it a shoot.

Hello. Alittle bit old thread but,.
I wonder if redcording sound to a Tascam HD recorder gives better results, more quality sound than reccording it directly to a HVX200?
I am trying to get rid of any cables going to a camera and if this gives actualy better sound then that is a choice for me. Or since Tascam HD P2 is a little bit old by now is there any better device today in the same price range?
Thanks for reading!

Well, the P-2 does record up to 192kHz in 24bit, so that would make it better.

Although I have never had any complaints about the excellent recording capabilities of the HVX-200.

Sound should be significantly better, not 'cause of the bitrate but 'cause of the much better analog stages. The HVX is good for a video camera, but almost any outboard audio gear will be better. I'm not a Tascam P2 user, but as far as I've heard, it remains at or near the top in its price range and highly recommended.

Thanks, Ullanta. By the way I play Bolivian music, vientos. Tengo muchos amigos cochabambinos. Once I played in a band with Edwin Hererra Muerto who is from Savia Andina.

BTW, in the world of sound equipment, the Tascam isn't old - it's still barely a baby.

As to your question, every time I've worked on a project with an HVX200, we've recorded both to the camera (via a send from my mixer) and to the HD-P2 and in all cases, the audio used in the final mix came from the HD-P2.
