is this monitor any good?

Hello everyone,
I found this monitor "JVC TM-900SU 9" for a pretty good price. It only has about 300 lines of res, but it has all the goodies to calibrate it accurately. My question is will 300 lines of res limit me to badly for judging picture accuracy? I have no experience with monitors other than the viewfinder on my dvx100, and a 27" regular tv monitor at home. So anyhow any feed back or even suggestions would be awesome.

thanks,
D

here's an old link with pics......it has no s video so how would I hook it up to my dvx?

(if you saw this in the hvx hardware I posted it there on accident....oops)

Hi dlang, 300 lines is fine, as long as it is calibrated properly, and has no flaws i/e: "Never been fired, only dropped once" :)
I looked at the pic, and it seems to have all the proper adjustments, color off, blue check, brightness/contrast and all that. If it only has a BNC video input, then all you need is a $2.49 PJBP adapter that converts a standard RCA cable with male end to a BNC jack to lock on the monitor. Ofcourse Y/C (or SVHS) is preferable, but not a deal breaker.

cool thanks for the reply Rush. I'm still looking around for a good unit. Hopefully I can find one for a decent price with better res, but it's good to know that if I can't that 300 lines will work. Thanks again.

No problem, dl. I have an old Sony 300 line that I still use when I shoot PAL. It is good enough to do lighting, not as good as a 17" or a 450 line, but still good.

Yeah, I bought the exact monitor in question and so far it works really well. Hopefully someday I can get a 12v with a 4pin XLR so I can run it in the field, but it's deffinetly a solid monitor and works really well.
