Ok, so its too soon to go running...

I got up this morning with the full intention of being out of bed more than in it, but after my shower, I was exhausted. Determined not to take any pain meds today, I slept for a while. Got up and had a bite of lunch and walked about a half mile. Was tired, but not too bad. Went to the grocery store and was spent.

I am not used to having to just lay around and its driving me nuts. Why do you have to be so weak after surgery? I know the body's been thru alot, but physiologically, what's going on? What makes you wear down so easy after surgery? I feel weak and shaky and sleepy...did I mention weak? I hate that!

Ok, now I am going to go take some pain meds. I only wanted to get a true barometer of what kind of pain I was actually having. Now I know. I'll try the no pain meds experiment again in a couple days. :(

A few thoughts as to why:

• Lack of nutrition before surgery (out of necessity)
• Your body is spending energy on healing your... (?)
• You still haven't caught up with providing proper nutrition for your body
• After eating a big meal, you're usually sleepy
• Oh, and finally... drugs. :)

heck, i didn't have any kind of surgical thing done to me and i won't go jogging....mostly because i'm a lazy bastid.

1) Your sleep cycle can get thrown off by the anesthetic, thus inducing a good case of "jet lag"

2) Post surgical hormonal changes can induce a short lived depression, usually about day 2 or 3 post operatively, thus making you feel "down" and "tired"

heh! No, no addiction problem. Just an irrational fear that something will happen (house on fire, burglary, etc) and I will not have my wits about me to react correctly. :)

Anyone who knows me will tell you I never sit still. I hate to just be doing nothing. When I am around the house on weekends, I am constantly doing something, cleaning out kitchen cupboards, odd little things that most people generally dont think about. And this level of incapacitation is just something I'm not gelling with too well.

Showered this morning and walked for almost 30 minutes around the neighborhood. Then the legs started feeling wobbly. :furious3: I think this is what it feels like to be in your 80's or so....

And no depression whatsoever about actually HAVING the surgery. Trust me. :) I had a couple of tumors, which, by their proximity to the uterine wall, were telling my body I was pregnant......CONSTANTLY. Now, I realize that may be just too much "woman stuff" for most of you, so I will stop there. hahaha!!!! But suffice it to say, the surgery was a good thing.

Ok, cuppa joe ready to go. And some movie on Encore-something or other is coming on. Is beautiful weather here in Florida!!!! Windows are open, the monks across the street are out tending to their landscaping...just a nice day. :)
