The Professor
My friend Paul has the right build and look for being Santa. If he gets into his red Santa suit, he IS Santa. No surprise that he does all sorts of gigs as Santa. Last week he begged me to go with him this past Monday to a film shoot; he wanted me to take photos for his portfolio. I figured it was some "Mickey Mouse" student film, but what the heck, I'll humor him. Little did I realize that this was an AFI project being shot on 35mm film with a full blown crew.
I know that many of you on this forum do major productions, so this will be "been there, done that" to most of you, but for me, other than simple stuff, like productions at El Camino College or Cable TV productions with the City Of Torrance, I've never really had the chance to be around any major production.
The first part, shot in a cemetery, was complete by lunch. Then the crew set-up for the street scene by the church (really it was a chapel). The street scene involved about 60 extras generating a mass of chaos as the 2 main characters walked down the street into the church.
Normally, I would have hidden out of the camera's way, but in talking with the director, he thought it was a great idea to have me with the camera in the scene shooting pictures of all the chaos; so I appear briefly in the movie and even get credit as an extra. (No money, just screen credit.)
As for Santa, he appears many times in the movie, to a 9 year old girl, who is the only one who sees him. For those who might want to see the photos I shot, here is a link to the photos:

(OK, this wasn't about the HVX-200, but after a few months of posts, I thought I could get away with posting this...)
