Tascam HD-P2 Review

Hi all,

Jay Rose just posted this on RAMPS, thought I would share it...

"John Garrett and I just ran a bunch of lab tests / field trials on the
new Tascam. It's got the best mic pres / digitizer I've found in a
low-cost recorder: flat response, and decent s/n even with -50 dBu
mics. Not a Deva or SD 7xx, but darned good at 16 bit recording.

Full details and field eval coming up in DV Magazine (DV.com). "

Me too, what's the price on the tascam? Fostex/Marantz killer for sure.
Wow, didnt know the pres were that good. I go line in from a SD 302.

Why is that every-time something comes out we get all this "XYZ killer". Is this TV violence influencing people? ;~)

Seriously, why would you want to kill the competition? Plus it's just generaly a stupid comment. The DAP1 didn't kill Dennon or HHB or Sony so I doubt there will be much carnage. I have the 671 and I am glad the Tascam is getting rave reviews. I'm quite happy but a little push might get some firmware changes that would improve the 671 so great for Tascam. I think it is in everyones interest to have options.

Why dont you relax and play with your dog or something. I see a lot of your posts are pretty negative and condescending to some people because you disagree or you find their comments pointless . The only thing stupid is your dumb ass thinking.

Well you haven't read too many then. And the point of those little punctuation things is to point out when your joking since it's not always obvious in writing. So go relax your self. I get a bit tired of people saying things that are incorrect so I may be a bit short with some folks but this is usually after they have taken some misinformation and then tried to claim it as fact. Since you took the time to look at my web site you may have noticed I have a bit of experience. Since in Sep of 05 you wrote

"Have 2 days to learn. Any words of advice on setting up 302/adjustments and what to look out for in the field. Will not be able to hire mixer. Will read Jay Rose's book tonight."
I am going to go out on a lim and guess that you don't have much. So maybe my opinions are based on a bit more experience than yours are. I'm sorry if you feel I'm being condescending, I don't actually mean to be.
And this grown man has pictures of his dog on his web site. My dog has also been in in a few commercials a movie or two and on the front page of the Chronicle, so maybe I'm on his web site?
And yes I am serious, options are good.

you 2 have quit a mileage to go with good written dialog before you step in to this wonderful world of throwing s,h,i,t each other - sorry guys , very disappointing - try harder or stop waist the siberspace :-)
 
Point taken. I wasn't trying to throw s&*%, I have found it rather pointless (though sometimes fun). I'll try to ignore or step up to the plate and hit one.

Why, just watching you make an ass of your self is enough contribution to the forum to keep this thing interesting for awhile. But I will admit that you are pretty cleaver.
