Intel Macs officially cracked for Windows

I don't see why they would have a contest for this. Considering Apple has never denied the fact that Windows and OS X could run on the same machine, and it's been pretty obvious that it would happen eventually.

Not if you're already a mac user.

When I eventually purchase an Intel Mac i wouldn't mind having a dual OS system for those situations when I'd like to use a PC program (or game for that matter).

Getting the Intel OS X to work on a PC i guess is the next step for anyone who would like to run FCP on their current PC setup perhaps.

Apple shouldn't care if anyone puts windows on mac because they've already bought the mac anyway that came with mac os so they've already gotten their money. Now booting OS X on a PC that they will fight to the death

Apparently it is now possible to run both Windows and OS X on the new Intel Macs.

I love these stories. These cracks have virtually no functionality. Sort of like a car with no drivetrain. Why in the hell would anyone want to run windows after you've been used to UNIX? FWIW, I don't want to edit videotape with razorblades either... jeez!

It's become quite modish now in my local business community (Russia) to use mac notebooks for presentations -- it's supposed to mean that your company is rich (so rich that it doesn't matter that you can't find any software for your computer.)

Now I'll be able to get a mac notebook and run my specialized video and presentations software on it. :)

Hmmm.... if OS X ran on a PC, would I still buy Mac hardware..hmmm.... to be honest, I think yes. Why risk all the problems and zero support for a few hundred quid.

This is almost the most pointless thing I've ever heard of.
It's not pointless at all. I'm a Windows developer in my day job, but I love the Mac OS, and I love the hardware. Being able to use both would be amazing for me, especially if it turns out that the Macbook Pro will run the new Intel binaries of FCP "like butter" as Jobs would say.

This is an old wives tale that needs to die. There is way more software under UNIX than under Windows. These UNIX programs are being converted to OS X at a rate faster than Congress spends money. Time for this to die.

Of course, the downside is you won't get to waste 1-1/2 days fixing your Mac after a virus attack like we've been doing on our lone PC laptop (we use it to look at web video and websites... it has four programs on it)...

Sure they should. The Mac is reliable and stable because it's UNIX and isn't open to Windows. When people start bitching about Macs crashing when they have Windows on there as well no one is going to differentiate that it's the result of an unholy marriage.

I disagree I think people will notice right away that the fact that it's crashing is due to windows if their macs were not crashing before or at least not as frequently. You must remember that the average PC user isn't able to re-install their OS let alone Install Windows on a machine that wasn't originally suppose to have it on there. If someone was able to install windows on their mac I would think that they are fairly competent when it comes to computers.

The idea that Macs never crash is laughable. Give me a break! I love the platform too, but that's the most silly thing I've read today.
