Ok, i ws thinking the other day how could i make my workflow go smoother and CHEAPER? i came across this unit called MINDSTOR and DIGITALWALLET

They are essentially smart storage solutions units with PCMCIA slots (!). Ok, P2 goes into a pcmcia slot so technically we could use one of these units to dump our media into (they come with HDD of 6GB and up, with an LCD screen) than transfer the files to our "home" drives when we get back to base or wherever. If this works, we are looking at $500 or less with great portability.

"The device comes with a PCMCIA connector and you can insert there almost any memory cards through a special adapter."


any thoughts on this? could this be it...:)

A friend of mine has one of these that he has been using with his digital SLR's for years. It's a perfect example of why the existing solutions don't need to be so expensive.
 
I'm not sure this would work even if the company was still around. There is no mention of Cardbus at all in any of those links.
