M2 Adapter-Which Lens is the best

M2 adapter & lenses

Hi everyone,

After some deliberation, I'm going with the M2. I've been using a canon with EOS lenses but now understand that those lenses aren't the best to use. The link posted earlier to B&H was helpful. Does anyone have any vendors and/or links they could post for Nikon lenses?

thanks in advance,

R Gale, the Mattebox is a Vocas 350. Fantastic bit of kit..
The brick attached to the side of the M2 by hair bungies is an external DVD 9v battery. I wanted to not have to swap out the small 9 volt internal M2 battery every few hours and this solves the problem and then some!!!!

Thanks Steve, that's very helpful info! I had no idea the 9V lasts only a couple hours
on the M2. I'm very close to pulling the trigger and ordering the M2. Since seeing some of the excellent looking footage from Michal Gutowski, (he's the "MacGregor" of
M2 footage!) on the "Redrock Theater" forum, it's changed my view. I'm on the waiting list for the G35, but I need an adapter ASAP for several gigs in the coming months.

I'm curious, as an M2 user, have you experienced any issues with vignetting and/or darker/blurier corners? I've noticed this on several M2 clips, but not all (I'm going to ask Michal about this too).
Is that simply a case of M2's that have not been set up in an optimum way?
Is it a result of the older version Ground Glass? Thanks a lot.

Richard

Richard, it's all in the setup. A lot of M2 owners had blurryness in the corners due to not being setup correctly.

As with all adaptors, the M2 takes a bit of setting up but once achieved you can go back to it every time. Setup depends on your camera make. Setting up an FX1 is different to setting up a DVX100.

As for vignetting, no it's not a problem. If you see it in clips, it's because the shooter hasn't zoomed in far enough and the camera is picking up the edges of the GG.

The new GG is far superior to the other versions, with litle to no grain or ghosting.

By the way there has been another new clip posted using the M2. It looks like some very experienced DP's are now getting used to it and producing some stunning works. A new musice video has just been posted on the Redrock forum, and shows very clearly what can be achieved with the M2. The doubters are having their doubts dismissed!

Here's a link to the clip.

Choose the larger format if you have a fast connection.

I'm impressed. That's some excellent looking footage. Thanks! :)
