Which Mini Dv tape?

Is there a specific kind of mini DV tape I should use or are they all the same? Which is the best to use?

Typically how many tapes should I get if the script is around 80 pages and shooting ratio is 3:1?

80 pages is 80 minutes (roughly 1 page/min depending on how much dialogue vs action there is). If you're shooting 3:1, that's 240 minutes. Each MQ tape is 60 minutes, so you need 240/60 = 4 tapes. I'd buy more though.

Who knows if you'll go with long takes, or have a malfunction, or add pages etc. Each tape is only $5, have plenty extra.

If you see the manual pag 31, the recommended tape is
PQ or MQ 60 min. not recommended 80 min tapes

Little quality improvement over MQ, steep price increase.
In other words, it's up to you whether you want a Porsche or a Ferrari.
To pick up girls doesn't make any difference.

I've had trouble using Sony brand tapes. Anyone else run into that?

Ive had some trouble with Sony, the 5 packs where each ones a different color. Ive had some dropouts on those and loss of data.

Never buy Maxell. I always have problems with any maxell dv tape I buy.

Panasonic of Fuji are the best, in my opinion.
