5600mah battery

Hey,

I got my 5600mah batteries in. They are freaking awesome. I charged one up and it has been lasting sooo long. It'll be a dream having these when I'm out on a long shoot deep in the woods.

Also, thanks for the T-shirt.

I love mine too, but just dropped one at a shoot and cracked the plastic housing.

I emailed 'battery@dvxuser.com' about sending it in for repair or something (the integrity of the cells is just fine) but haven't heard back.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

I dropped one (or should say "My son and his friends dropped one - making movies"). It busted on impact. I chucked it thinking it was done for. Never thought about sending it back in...

Would like to know if it can get fixed (I did take it all apart and test it with my tongue. Surgery should fix everything...)

Hey,
I have 4 of the new cells and 6 of the old ones. I dropped 2 of them on the concrete the first day. Cracked cases, one sprang apart. I used an industrial glue to stick it all back together FROM THE INSIDE. The DVX batts have really tight tolerances so all work needs to be done from inside.

Good Luck.

Oh, don't use Super Glue, that's for your girlfriend’s fake nails. Get some hardening 3M glue from an auto parts store.

The case is so weak now that I'd just like more information as to how to open it to remove the cells in order to glue it like you described. It feels like it's one bad move away from breaking into more pieces.

Can you please elaborate on what you did, or at least how to open the cases for the batteries? Thanks!

Hey,
Well I guess the first question is how did your case break?

My 2 dropped on the floor and the flat plastic "lid" that touches the camera broke off. So I got this 3M glue for installing weather stripping on cars and smeared it all over the tops of the batts and the "little lid". Stick them back together and clamp for a day or so. That's it.

The tolerances are SUPER tight and any outside glue must be sanded off with 400 or 600 grit sand paper when dry. The case IS thin and the lid is glued only around the rim so a good bump and the thing may break ...

If your case is broken anywhere else but where it touches the camera, then not a big deal, just use the same glue and glue the heck out of it or just gaffer tape it. It’s only a battery after all.

This repair has saved two 5600 batts for me so I hope it works for all who drop there’s.

Let's not forget that for $80 this is a Hell of a Battery !!
