Help!~Century Optics .6x WA on DVX

Yo yo yo!

So I just bought the CO .6x WA lens for my dvx100 (no A or B, but original).

Problem is -- the lens slides straight on, but won't turn "clockwise 45 degrees" as the instructions tell me to do. It will, however, turn slightly counterclockwise about 22 degrees.

Anyone have this problem?

I wonder if clockwise is when I'm looking at the camera, when I have the cam facing away from me. I assume it's when I'm looking at the camera (into the lens) otherwise it would be an odd way to attach it.

And I don't want to try to turn it with too much pressure.

Thoughts?

Indeed I did. Right at the top!

I'm a pretty swift fellow, too. Able to follow directions (contrary to what my girlfiriend might say). Which is why this is boggling my mind.

Do you have the DVX100, too. I am assuming that they are all built the same (dimension and hardware wise, at least).

Shanx bro!

OK...I don't have the camera with me at the moment, so this is by memory:

The "inner" part of the .6 will turn counterclockwise, and the "outer" part will turn clockwise....

But it's the "outer" part that you should be turning to lock it onto the camera, not the other (or both). (EDIT: Although it also seems to work, possibly better, if you turn both clockwise to about 2 o'clock, before turning the outer back counterclockwise. Seems to me, anyway.)

If you attach it by turning the "inner" part, it'll probably lock on...but it might not seat properly and you'll get some chromatic aberration.

Just in case I'm making this more confusing than necessary, what I mean by the "outer" part is the big, heavy ring portion on the outside. The "inner" is what is holding the lens.)

EDIT2: Anyway, that's how I put it on. Works for me. I could very well be doing it wrong and not realize it. (I've long since lost the instruction sheet. :( )

Thanks man ... yeah, it seems like an overly complicated procedure for simply putting a lens on. Sheesh!

By the way, I'll expose my ignorance (no pun intended, but kinda cool anyway)!!!

What is "chromatic aberration"?

Chromatic aberration...um... Little rainbows on the edges of things.

If the lens is on cockeyed, you could get 'em. It sorta acts like a prism, instead of a lens.

You'll also get it sometimes with cheap glass no matter how well it fits.

Cool .. thanks broseph!

I managed to get the lens on last night. In retrospect .. it's a pretty simple procedure. Seems the front of the lens functions like the tightening mechanism, while the rear of the lens is the anchor or boot. Interesting. Friggin engineers making things all clever like that!

Rock.
