CRT HDTV as Monitor

Is anyone considering getting a standard Best Buy/Circuit City CRT HDTV for use as a monitor? I'm thinking about getting one of the 26" models and would like some input on any other user's experiences.

The Sony High Def monitors are a bit expensive being in the 13,000-42,000 range.

I have a Panasonic 1080i ready HDTV crt and will use it for the HVX. My XBOX 360 looks great on it.

I have a Sony XBR960 34" which weighs just over 200 lbs.(!)
It's a big mother but the picture is beautiful. I'm using it as a program monitor
for my edit system. The bigger CRT's are impractical as production monitors due to the weight.

i don't forsee moving it out of the studio. I just can't afford one of those broadcast monitors. The one I was looking at was 75 pounds. I need something so that clients don't sit and breath over my shoulder.

I guess another question would be, is there any hardware out there that would be able to output from a powerbook? Some sort of firewire or PCMCIA SDI output, then a SDI to Component converter? I'll check the aja and blackmagic sites right now, but if anyone knows of anything let me know. I'm not against getting a tower for the studio, and keeping my laptop for location shooting and edting.

what about an HDLCD? pretty cheap these days and could be light enough for fieldwork....too bright/noisy??

If you're going to be viewing footage from this camera, I highly recommend a CRT. LCDs are notoriously noisey. I got one at work for our HVX. When I played SD (component-progressive) DVDs on it, I couldn't believe the amount of noise the monitor was adding not to mention the footage from the HVX. I wish we'd purchased a HD CRT.:(
