Some cool news for horror fans.....

I've been having a hard time reading it... a first for me with a SK book. It doesn't FEEL like a SK book. There are moments where I'm like there he is, and others where I'm like zzzzzzzzzz.... I am only a third of the way in. Parts of it are really interesting so far. I am anxious to try and finish it and see if the SK I know and love pops up later in the book. Will let you know if I ever finish it!

Watch out! My complaint with SK is that he seems to have problems with endings, like they often feel tacked on or an afterthought. :undecided

Yeah, I don't think he ever knows how to end his pieces. Most of them are a let down, so when you get a mediocore ending its like a gift from the gods.

I'm kind of suprised by the part of the article that says King gets seven figures on the back end of the deal. Don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite authors, but the movies made from his books seem to be kind of hit and miss (for every Shawshank Redemption there is a Dreamcatcher). Any one else have this impression?

He gets seven figures because he's Stephen King. One of the most successful writers EVER. Doesn't matter if the movie will be hit or miss. Its based on Stephen King's BOOK, and he sells an awful lot of those!

I'm sure Ms. Rowling made a pretty penny on the film rights to those little Harry Potter novels...

Sweet

I have the Novel (Only have read the available text online) as I'm caught up in waaaay too many activites lately. I'll get it read after I finish D-DAY by Ambrose

Can someone explain exactly how the S KING $1.00 Rights thingy goes ?

Supply and demand. Why does one actor get $20M and another get scale? Perceived value and supply and demand.

John...
those are the infamous "dollar babies". SK is very, very independent filmmaker-friendly. These can be used for festivals and such, but not commercially.

I am a big-time King fan. The Dark Tower series are among my favorite books of all time.

This latest novel is one of the few that I have yet to read. I can't wait to do so.

Cool, Chad. I didn't know you were a King fan! I'm almost through the DT series.

Everyone I have turned on to those epics has fallen in love with them after a few pages into The Gunslinger.

I also loved "Hearts in Atlantis" (The film adaption was quite good, but the book was pure magic.)

You know I really loved Hearts in Atlantis as well. I enjoyed the movie. Did you by any chance re-read the new edition of The Gunslinger put out a few years back? I enjoyed it more than his original edition.

LOL. Like you've never seen the multiple editions of King's books? Unabridged? Revised?

This is like the 5th or 6th revised book of his.
