35 Adapters

Ok so question to all of you smart people in here, which of the 35mm adapters is the best to use and to buy.
A) Letus35
b) Micro 35 (redrockmicro)
c) G35 (cinemek)

I have done my fair research in this area but having the opnion of the people that actually use it does not hurt. From the stuff that I have see the G35 looks like the best and the more user friendly than the others, I might be wrong so that is why I am asking this question.

Here is an example of the G35 Footage, ofcourse we all know that its the man behind the camera and not the camera and the adapters, but they sure help. I have never used an adapter for any of my work, but I am looking to actually invest in that.

Feedback would be great.

look in the DIY threads.. theres an unending debate about this subject there.

Awesome footage! What was Similo shot on? An HVX?

Thank you all for the feedback, I really do think that the G35 delevers quality image. One thing I do hate about the other adapters is the grain that they give, I really think that I am gonna go with the G35.

No i dont think its out yet. I mean its was out, but they stoped it and now there is a waiting list kinda thing, long proccess from what i read, but worth the wait in my opnion.

I've been really impressed with the m2 from RedRockMicro.com.

The Letus 35 Flip has gotten rave reviews also and it is the only one that flips the image.

hahahah yeah i mean everyone has their own opnion about these adapters. Perosnally for every look i go for i like it to be sharp and crisp, the Redrockmicro M2 adds too much grain to the picture, I really don't like that aspect about it. But as for the depth of field it does its job.

Fair enough. Is the G35 demo footage with the oscillating GG? Didn't they redesign and go with a circular GG? Just wondering if the footage is current.

Also, if you're not part of the initial 200 pre-order, how long is the wait? Any projected release dates?

The G35 does look small and compact, but it could be a long time before they're shipping.

To be honest with you I have not applied for hte pre-order yet. All I know is that it might take a while, and you are right they did redesign it but I am not sure if the demo footage is up-todate. That is a good question.

All the demo footage in cinemek's site is from the static model. No footage yet from the upcoming (and not ready) vibrating model.

Also, the people at Cinemek (the makers of the G35) have pretty consistantly missed deadlines for information and availability of their product.

Well, it's not possible to compare footage if the G35 is being completely redesigned. Static GG's are prone to vignetting and seeing the GG's grain. Obviously they could pack a static GG in that small package. But now that they're redesigning to go with a vibrating, will it still not require rods? They just seem very secretive about their product. Whereas, Redrockmicro is very open, including having the schematics/plans of their adaptor available online.

I want to believe all the rave comments on the Cinemek G35, but right now, it's really starting to sound like vapor-ware.

I saw the Letus 35 and I was impressed with the exterior of the unit, however the interior was disappointing. The one I saw had the vibrating groundglass, however the wires for the batteries were hanging out from the adapter and the interior was not all black, this can create internal glare. There's a reason why the interior of all cameras and lenses are flat black. What's with that? It only takes a piece of heat shrink to isolate the wires and have them attached to the exterior instead of having them hanging.

The flexibility of the Letus' wires is necessary for the GG plane to vibrate properly. The wires are not in the optical path anyway. Letus also has black anodized units. Most people buying the aluminum finish Letus will likely paint the interior black. So if you want it black, order the black version, if you want to save some money, buy the aluminum finish and paint it yourself. Thanks.
