"Capture Device Offline"

Hi all,

I've always captured footage in Premiere Pro 1.5 without problems. Today I started capturing one hour of footage from a short I shot last weekend and I encountered a timecode problem which interrupted the capture. Since then, Premiere refuses to "see" the DVX when I press F5 to launch the Capture module.

"Capture Device Offline" is the message I get, although the device obviously is online and in VCR mode.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere in the hope of solving the problem, but to no avail.

Do you know what might be causing the problem, and what to do about it ?

From your description, the problem is likely outside of Premiere. Try this:

Reboot the computer.

Do not launch Premiere.

Attach the camera to a valid 1394 port.

Is it detected by Windows? If not, then your problem is not with the NLE. Consider the cable, camera, port, etc.
