Trick for Sony HVL-20DW2 20-watt Video Light

I use the Sony HVL-20DW2 20 watt light on my dvx100 when I am doing weddings/parties/etc when I need a little extra light.

Well: Number one: even at 10watts it is really, really bright and blinds the people I film.

And two: at 10 watts, it just sucks the juice out of my batteries.

So what I did was buy 5 watt bulbs for these things. Finding one is tricky (especially since most sites sell them only in bulk), but I'll show you where to get them to save time:

Get them from amazon for 1.99 each.
You can also order replacement bulbs for the standard 10 watt lights for the same price:

This will save you $18 over buying the official sony replacement bulb.

Looks like a good tip, thanks!

I've read that this works as a diffuser also. Helpful if you want to put it on and off.

Diffusion paper works fine for me though.
